In the temple town of Nathdwara in Rajasthan, artists have painted Pichwai for more than 400 years. These are richly detailed temple hangings made for Shrinathji, the child form of Lord Krishna. At the heart of nearly every Pichwai are his beloved cows: gentle, adorned and sacred. In Indian tradition, the cow stands for abundance, nurture and grace.
The Kamdhenu Pichwai Hasli brings that sacred art into silver. Two sculpted cows, adorned with braided collars, stand on either side of a faceted green centre stone. They look as if they’ve stepped straight out of a Pichwai painting.
Around them, the hasli is covered in chitai work, the traditional Indian craft of chasing and engraving metal by hand. Trailing vines, leaves and blossoms are hammered and carved into the silver, one tiny stroke at a time. The dual-tone finish adds depth, with gold highlights on the motifs against oxidised silver, so every leaf and every cow stands out.
The hasli is finished with a hand-wrapped green thread and tassel. It’s fully adjustable, so you can wear it close at the collarbone or a little lower.
The set comes with matching Pichwai cow stud earrings, each a tiny sculpture of its own.

Care: Keep the thread dry and away from water and perfume. Wipe the silver gently with a soft dry cloth, and use a soft brush to clean the chitai detail. Don’t use silver dip, because it strips the oxidised and gold-toned finish. Store flat in a box or pouch so the hasli keeps its shape.
Note: Each piece is handcrafted, so small variations in the chasing and finish are the mark of real handwork.
