In South Indian temples, Nandi, the sacred bull, rests in his mandapa (pillared hall), forever facing Lord Shiva in devotion. Guarding the temple pillars around him are the yali: mythical lion-like creatures carved in stone, symbols of strength and protection.

The Nandi Mandapa pendant brings that sacred architecture to life in silver. A gold-toned Nandi sits on a carved temple-style crown at the top of the pendant. On either side stand two pillars, each with a rearing yali in gold against oxidised silver. At the heart is a pink kundan-style square, framed by rows of fine granulation and glowing like a lamp in the sanctum. Below, five clusters of silver ghungroo bells sway and chime softly.

The pendant hangs from a long strand of hollow 925 sterling silver beads. It looks generous and full, yet it’s comfortable to wear for hours.

It comes with matching earrings: square studs with pink kundan-style petals around a white centre.

Care: Hollow beads are light but can dent, so store the set flat in a box or pouch. Wipe gently with a soft dry cloth, and use a soft brush on the carved detail. Don’t use silver dip, because it strips the dual-tone finish and can loosen the stones. Keep away from perfume, lotion and water.
